Get Happy at Byron Bay

There is a place that requires you to leave your ego at the border or the beach, in this energetic spot on the planet. Byron Bay, Australia is built in the pathway of a once active volcano and people believe the energy flow has replaced the lava flow that covered the area. The status symbol here is how big is your smile or how bare are your feet because you’re here. In Byron, you can check out the wheat grass shots in the organic open air market, you can hop in a kayak and visit the resident dolphins who live free and happily in the bay and you feel you …

The Life Force in Oz

As I drank out of yet another plastic bottle, I could hear the late George Carlin in his epic, “Save the Planet” monologue, the earth just wanted the human race to invent plastic and now she will dispose of us like we dispose of plastic. Anyway, I must do better. If I do, I know things everywhere will get better.  As Gandhi said, “Change yourself, change the world. I believe this! Clarence from the Mingingbal people of Australia, shows us how 30,000 years of his ancestors’ living in sync with the planet can be our course now. They knew the difference between dominion over the earth and domination over the …

Sydney Turns On Happiness !

One of the most amazing experiences I have had in my travels around the world is VIVID in Sydney which happens in May. For 18 days the city becomes an open air playground of lights and technology while indoors, people flock to conferences to see where their ideas fit within our rapidly changing world. I interviewed one of the masterminds behind the event, Anthony Bastic, a gentile, humble man who created this fete of light and other mind blowing creations for events like the Sydney Olympics, which I attended. At the opening ceremonies of that event, I thought,“could anyone ever top this?” Well, he did with VIVID! We marvel at …

Being Present: Ranger Nick and kangaroos

I cannot think of a better name for my guide when I was in the Outback of Australia than “Ranger Nick.” Thanks to Ranger Nick, I know that a group of Kangaroos is called a mob, I am more familiar with the smaller, fluffy gray wallaroos, and it is fascinating that the males jockey for position, and their females much the same way humans do! (see video here  ) I marveled at Nick’s pure joy of the wilderness but what I liked most was his confidence. which made me and the crew feel comfortable, engaged and happy. I could see he truly enjoyed educating people about what he loves …

Four Steps For Wine Tasting

I sat down with wine expert, Phil Hele in the beautiful Hunter Valley, just outside of Sydney, Australia to get a crash course in the 4 steps to knowing a good wine. Celebrity designer Alex Perry gets blunt on “I want!”

Alex Perry is a force. He’s fun to watch because he speaks his mind and doesn’t take himself too seriously. He does take his art seriously. I would imagine an attack on his character would not effect him as much as an attack on his fashions. He speaks as he thinks, which puts him in a back peddle situation from time to time, but he owns his mistakes and we forgive him. How many times was I told to think before I speak growing up by my mom? There is great merit in that as once words are said, they can never be retrieved. The key is to not over …

Flower Happy Philly in the Deep Freeze!

The famous writer “Goethe” said “whatever you can dream, begin it. Hundreds of thousands of people flock to Philadelphia in February when the temperature outside is hovering around zero to see a dream that keeps getting bigger and bigger. The Philadelphia Flower Show, the largest in the world, is nature in an unnatural setting that guarantees a happy experience. And if you didn’t get enough Oscar night, this year’s theme celebrates movies. In this clip, CEO, Drew Becher sums up the happiest place in a sentence.
